What to do after Moder: the Plains
Open, sunny and deadly. The Plains hit harder than anything before, so bring your best food.
What to do in the Plains
Build the Artisan Table
It takes two of Moder's Dragon Tears. The Blast Furnace, Windmill, Spinning Wheel and Stone Oven are all built from it.
Raid Fuling villages for scrap
Fulings drop Black Metal Scrap, and Berserkers drop the most. Neither the scrap nor the bars go through portals, so build a camp nearby.
Grow barley and flax
Pick the wild plants in Fuling villages, then farm them: they only grow in the Plains. A Windmill grinds barley into flour and a Spinning Wheel spins flax into Linen Thread.
Smelt black metal in a Blast Furnace
The furnace needs 5 Surtling Cores. Black metal weapons need Forge level 4 and Linen Thread.
Make padded armour and a shield
Padded armour is iron plus linen, and the Lox Cape keeps you warm. Deathsquitos hit hard but die in one blow: block or parry them.
Bake Lox pie and bread
Prepare them at the Food Preparation Table (built at the Workbench), then bake them in a Stone Oven. Fish Wraps and Blood Pudding are good too once your Cauldron has Pots and Pans.
Brew Fire Resistance Barley Wine
Mix barley and cloudberries at the Mead Ketill, then ferment it. You'll want it for the boss here, and later on.

Deathsquito
10 health
Dies to one hit and kills an unarmoured player in one. You can't stagger it, so block the stab or dodge it — and they drift onto beaches, so watch the shoreline from your boat.

Fuling
175 health
They hear chopping and mining from a long way off. Pick your ground first: a doorway, a rock or the water's edge, rather than the open field.

Fuling Berserker
800 health
Winds up a heavy club swing you can parry, then a run of ground slams you can't — roll clear of those and hit it between them. It smashes walls, so don't box yourself in.

Fuling Shaman
100 health · in camps
Shields every Fuling around it and throws fireballs. It has barely any health, so shoot it first and the whole camp gets easier.

Lox
1000 health
Slow to turn, quick to take offence: walking up to one is enough to start it. Stay out of the circle it stomps and keep moving around its flank.

Vile
1200 health · out at night
Prowls at night and hits far harder than a bear. It won't come near flame, so a campfire between you and it changes the fight completely.

Growth
100 health · in tar pits
Lobs tar that coats you and stops you running — that, not the poison, is what gets people killed. Shoot them from outside the pit.

How to beat Yagluth
Summoning: A rare Vegvisir by the Plains' standing-stone rings marks his altar, so you may simply find it while exploring. Offer 5 Fuling Totems, taken from totem poles in Fuling villages (Berserkers sometimes drop one).
The fight: Arrows barely hurt him, fire does half damage and poison does nothing, so use a sword or a mace. Drink your Fire Resistance Barley Wine and hide behind the pillars. He drops Torn Spirits: keep them for what comes next.
