Valheim crafting guide
How to craft in Valheim, which station makes what, and how to level stations up to unlock better gear.
How crafting works
- You learn recipes by finding materials. Pick up a new material and every recipe that uses it shows up in your crafting menu (press Tab).
- Most things need a crafting station nearby. Simple tools like the Stone Axe, Club and Torch are made by hand. Everything else needs a station within range.
- Some stations need a roof. The Workbench and the Forge won't work in the open air, so build them under cover.
- Station level unlocks better recipes. Build upgrade pieces next to a station, like the Chopping Block by the Workbench, to raise its level.
- Upgrading gear needs higher levels. Each quality level of an item needs the station one level higher, plus more materials.
